NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) – Neenah’s mayor is announcing an informational hearing next week in response to concerns about coyotes.
Mayor Dean Kaufert says the meeting on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall will be held in conjunction with the Wisconsin DNR.
Coyote sightings have been reported in areas south of Neenah High School and west of Interstate 41, according to city leaders.
The reports began with a lone coyote in early spring, but more reports have been coming in over the summer of another coyote and possible pups. No one has reported any coyote attacks in Neenah.
DNR officials say coyotes are very adaptive and it’s not uncommon to see them in urban areas. City leaders say trapping and other nuisance control efforts can’t completely eliminate coyotes.
