KEWAUNEE, WI (WTAQ) – A circuit judge will have to determine the value of a nuclear power plant which hasn’t generated electricity for the last two years.
The owner and Kewaunee County are almost a half-billion dollars apart in their estimates.
Dominion Resources shut down the Kewaunee Power Station and now says the property is virtually worthless. The county puts its value at $457 million.
Kewaunee County already lost hundreds of jobs when the plant closed. Now, residents face the possibility of having to cover for the lost revenue.
Dominion sued the county over its tax bill. It might pay some of it, but the county might have to refund it — if it loses in court.
