OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – Authorities in Oshkosh will test their response to a mass shooter in a movie theater.
Police, fire, and rescue personnel will take part in Tuesday morning’s training exercise at a Marcus theater on the south side of Oshkosh.
Police Sergeant Todd Wrage says a theater tragedy involves unique challenges — like finding bodies hidden between seats and angled rows. He says the theater’s low lights and flashing from the screen can also cause problems.
Actors will portray victim to make the drill as realistic as possible.
Wrage says it’s important for police and rescuers to train together — because they’ll all be needed right away, once a mass shooting takes place.
