(WNFL) – The Green Bay Packers got veteran wide receiver James Jones on the cheap. Jones signed a one-year deal at the veteran minimum of $870,000, with no signing bonus. Jones counts $585-thousand against the league salary cap under the minimum salary benefit rule. At the moment, the Packers are more than $15.6 million under the salary cap. They rank 7th in terms of the most cap space in the NFL heading into the regular season opener.
