GREEN BAY — The head of a local health care group told reporters across the state of Wisconsin today that hospitals are being overwhelmed as a result of high COVID-19 transmission.
Dr. Ashok Rai of Prevea Health spoke Thursday, and says the situation has gotten bad enough that hospitals are having to turn patients away.
“One of our hospitals had to say no to 28 patients being transferred in that needed them,” Rai said. “Including three strokes.”
Workers, Rai says, are being stretched to the limit.
“Almost 20 percent so in some cases more or be occupied by either some years actively being treated for cold 19 are still is in the hospital because a long term fax.”
While hospitals have bed space, Rai told reporters at a statewide briefing that staffing problems limit the amount of beds that can be utilized.
