GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity will soon have a new Executive Director and CEO, but it’s not a brand new face for the organization or the community.
Jessica Diederich is returning to the organization where she served as a volunteer coordinator from 2008-2010, with more than a decade of experience in the local nonprofit community. She most recently served as the president of Freedom House, where she started in 2019.
Jessica spent almost nine years as the Director of Partnerships and Community Relations for the Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau (now, Discover Green Bay). She has also been a Wish Granter for Make-A-Wish Foundation for over 23 years and a volunteer for Salvation Army for 22 years.
“I’ve always had fond memories of it, and I’ve always had a passion for the mission of the organization,” Diederich told WTAQ News. “Habitat for Humanity is my dream job, and I just didn’t know if this opportunity would come around again in the next 10-15 years so I had to explore it. I’m just thrilled that they chose me as their new leader.”
Diederich says the board of directors is encouraging her to think about the future and growth of the organization, and to find creative solutions. And she’s excited to get started.
“I cannot wait to get settled in and then really start brainstorming and working with the staff, the board, all of the community supporters – and see what kind of ideas we can come up with to help the organization grow,” Diederich said. “As I get into the role and get comfortable, I want to really commit to being active in the community and make sure that we’re collaborating with all the other agencies that we can share resources with and refer people, and just really try to make an impact on the community.”
Diederich is working with current Executive Director Cora Haltaufderheid to ensure a smooth transition as Haltaufderheid heads into retirement. Diederich is set to take over on December 13th.
