APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Appleton Area School District has put out the Help Wanted sign when it comes to the top administrator.
On Monday night, the school board unanimously accepted its current superintendent’s notice of retirement.
Judy Baseman says she’s retiring, effective June 30th.
She has been part of the Appleton school district for 26 years. This marks her fifth year as superintendent.
Baseman says her husband accepted a position as a pastor on Washington Island in Door County.
During Monday night’s meeting, the school board thanked her for her expertise.
“Happy that we still have six months under your guidance and your leadership, so the work is not done,” school board president Kay Eggert said. “Just on behalf of the board, I will say we’ve been so fortunate to have you leading us, and thank you for everything that you’ve done for us.”
The board will now begin a process to select a replacement. Members say they want a seamless transition as they approach the next school year.
