GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Brenda Tenpas was convicted of her fifth drunk driving offense Friday in connection with a crash which closed Interstate 43.
Tenpas, 48, pleaded no contest to fifth OWI and hit & run for the March 8 incident. She was taken into custody after court. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 7.
Investigators said Tenpas was involved in a side-swipe crash on Highway 172 eastbound. She then allegedly continued south on I-43 and lost control near Denmark. Her vehicle went through a cable barrier in the median and hit an oncoming semi. The semi jackknifed and blocked the northbound lanes.
Her blood alcohol level was .26, more than three times the legal limit of .08, according to the Brown County Sheriff’s Dept
