GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 17-year-old being held on $1 million cash bond appeared in Brown County court Tuesday afternoon.
De Pere police arrested him the day after a woman was assaulted on a trail.
Authorities haven’t confirmed he is the suspect in the case, but his attorney has said he is a suspect in a trail attack.
Prosecutors aren’t ready to file charges against Miles Cruz yet.
District Attorney David Lasee says the crime lab has made significant progress on the case. Lasee says the information they have received back is consistent with what was shared during a probable cause hearing nearly two weeks ago.
FOX 11 covered that hearing exclusively, where Cruz’s public defender said Cruz was a runaway who had been sleeping in parks. Cruz turned 17 the same day police say a woman was attacked in broad daylight while on the East River Trail with her baby.
Police say the baby was unharmed, but announced the woman was released from the hospital a week after the attack.
On Tuesday, the court gave prosecutors until next Thursday to file a criminal complaint in the case. Until then, Cruz will continue to be held on $1 million.
