FOX CROSSING, WI (WTAQ) – Fox Crossing has a new police chief, and he’s fairly familiar with the community.
Scott Blashka has been with the town of Menasha, and now Fox Crossing Police Department since 2002. The captain was promoted to chief this week.
There’s one area of concern Blashka hopes to keep as a priority.
“We continue to try and stay ahead of the drug problem in the community. That seems to be at the forefront a lot, and drives a lot of the other levels of crime that you have,” Blashka told WTAQ News. “Property crimes and assault-type crimes often correlate with that drug problem.”
He’s also hoping to expand on community/police relations, and become more visible out in the Fox Valley communities – especially Fox Crossing.
“I’m looking forward to leading a department with the strong community support for police that we have in the Fox Valley area. It makes the job a little easier when you know that the majority of the people are very supportive of the police,” Blashka said. “[We’ll be] focusing on treating all the community with respect in any dealings that they might have with police officers, whether that’s through traffic enforcement, or anytime that somebody may be a victim of a crime.”
Current chief Tim Seaver will retire on Friday, after 35 years in law enforcement.
