OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Oshkosh family got to thank the police officers who saved them from a fire.
The Stadtmueller family got to recount what happened with the officers.
Melissa Stadtmueller recalled the scary moments just before calling 911.
“I had my one dog, Mable, and I had the cat Chandler, and I had my two kids and I said we need to get out now,” said Melissa
At about 7:39 a.m. Saturday, the Oshkosh Fire Department was called to a house fire at 1627 Western St. The woman who called said she and her two children, along with two dogs and a cat were trapped upstairs by smoke.
Oshkosh police officers arrived just before firefighters and reported seeing smoke and flames. They say they were able to find a ladder in the garage so they could get to an upstairs window where the residents were trapped.

Officers and firefighters helped the residents and pets escape safely.
