OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The student accused of stabbing an Oshkosh West High School police resource officer, leading the officer to shoot him, is pleading insanity.
Grant Fuhrman, 18, changed his plea to not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect on Thursday.
Fuhrman is charged with one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide for the Dec. 3, 2019 incident. Prosecutors say Fuhrman was shot after stabbing Officer Mike Wissink. Students and staff evacuated, and classes were cancelled for two days.
Wissink recovered. He retired in March.
A trial is set for December.
