NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Eagle Nation Cycles used to be the clubhouse for the Hell’s Lovers Motorcycle Club. It’s also the location of a 2012 police drug raid, and a 2015 standoff, which resulted in Neenah Police killing a gunman’s hostage.
In April, a man was stabbed and killed near the property.
Now, Bergstrom Automotive has leased the building for five years, according to owner Steve Erato.
“They’re going to use it for storage, whether it’s car parts or parts from the plaza. I’ve heard both. But it’s up to them. That’s what they based the rental on, was the amount of square footage for storage,” Erato said.
Bergstrom did not return FOX 11’s request for an interview.
Mayor Dean Kaufert has been looking to revitalize downtown Neenah. He says he spoke with Erato about the city purchasing the building. Erato wouldn’t budge on a price.
“I am convinced that the city and the police are responsible for the murder of my partner. They did their best to run me out of business, so yeah, I want a lot of money for it,” Erato said.
Kaufert tells FOX 11 Bergstrom leasing the building is a welcome addition to downtown Neenah.
“This fixes a problem. That neighborhood is changing, at some point the city is going to utilize that whole area and the remaining properties for some type of parking ramp structure, is what our biggest need is.”
Erato says Bergstrom made an offer to purchase the building, but they agreed on leasing.
“If I do get a bona fide offer I’m hoping that Bergstrom is the ones that will match it,” Erato said.
A tattoo and skate shop were tenants in the building. Both businesses will be relocating.
