HOWARD, WI (WTAQ) — After Coronavirus delayed it’s completion, Prevea’s new clinic on Shawano Avenue, just blocks from St. Mary’s Hospital, is finally open.
Patients were able to be seen at the four-story tall, 80,000 square foot clinic starting on Monday.
“It’s essentially a replacement building,” said Prevea CEA Dr. Ashok Rai. “The Prevea clinics that were attached to St. Mary’s hospital, that was part of the hospital the old St. Mary’s hospital that was built in the 1950s.”
COVID-19 delayed the construction and opening of the building. It took about a year and a half from design to completion.
“We needed some new space,” said Rai. “We’re very proud of the building. It turned out beautifully. It’s bright, especially with the windows that we have in there. It makes patients, I think, feel a little bit better about the setting.”
A number of physicians are relocating to the building and several new general practitioners and specialists are going to be moving in as well.
The building is one of the largest that Prevea operates, second only to their Allouez Clinic.
