GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Sunday was the last day of the season for Bay Beaches Amusement Park. And it was a record-setting season for the park.
Leaves on the ground are one sign summer is gone, the closing of Bay beach amusement park is another.
“We always stop here on the last day of Bay Beach,” said Brandon Melewski of Neenah.
“Last year was a Packer game and colder weather. There was even less people. This is busier than last year.”
This year, ticket sales at the park increased. Blair Lewis, the Parks Facilities Coordinator, tells FOX 11 one new ride may be to thank.
“I think the Big wheel was a great addition to our park this year. It brought in a lot of people. Entire families could get on together. It’s exciting.”
More than 150,000 people rode the Ferris wheel since it opened in July. Lewis says they did make one small change to it since it opened. The wheel is now faster.
The rainy final day mirrored the entire season.
“If it were sunnier there’d probably be a bit more people,” said Lewis. “Even with all the rain we still did have a record season.”
Green Bay had a wetter than normal summer and record rainfall in September.
The park will open just once more this year on October 11th for Boo Beach Fall Family Fun Weekend.
