KIMBERLY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Kimberly community came together on Sunday to help make a difference in the lives of veterans — by tying fleece blankets.
The goal was to make 100 blankets. They’ll be given to veterans as a way to show appreciation for their service.
16-year-old Aubree Leitermann started the project 6 years ago, and then it took off with community donations to make more blankets.
She tells FOX 11 the campaign has been positive on many levels.
“It feels great to have the whole, entire community to come together to agree on one thing, that veterans should be appreciated, that they should be thanked, for what they did for us.”
She says that to date, volunteers have helped to make nearly 900 blankets over the years.
