FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Fond du Lac County health officials reported an additional five new positive coronavirus cases Sunday, bringing the total in the county to 11, the most of any county in the state.
Fond du Lac County Health Department Public Health Officer Kim Mueller indicated nine of the 11 cases were from people who recently returned from an Egyptian river cruise.
She indicated dozens of people have undergone tests for COVID-19, and those test results should be completed Monday.
“This situation is far from over,” said Mueller about the cases turning up in the county.. we have many people currently being testing and many people who will need testing in the future.”
Mueller indicated representatives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would be in Fond du Lac Monday along with state officials to work together to trace possible people who may have come in contact with the confirmed cases.
The other two positive coronavirus cases in Fond du Lac county, according to Mueller, were people traveling from Maryland.
The county also reported Sunday 25 cases that were tested to be negative.
The county has set up a helpline for individuals who believe they have been in contact with a known COVID-19 case exposure and who believe they may be symptomatic. Symptoms includes having a fever, cough and shortness of breath.
