AMBERG, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Marinette County Sheriff’s deputy is on paid administrative leave after shooting and killing a man after that man showed a gun during a domestic dispute.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office tried making contact with a man involved in a domestic incident in the Town of Amberg at about 11 o’clock Friday morning. Authorities say they had to follow the man after he left in his vehicle. After a short distance, they say the man got out of his vehicle and showed a gun, prompting a deputy to fire their gun at the man.
The DOJ says law enforcement was unsuccessful in an attempt to save the man’s life. He died at a local hospital.
No one else was injured.
The deputy has been placed on administrative duty, per the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office policy.
The DOJ says it is not releasing any further information at this time.
