WASHINGTON D.C. (WTAQ) – Republican Congressman Glenn Grothman will return to his seat in the U.S House of Representatives.
“I think a lot of us benefited from Donald Trump. I think there’s a feeling in the country that we have to continue to have a strong southern border, which was an asset,” Grothman told WTAQ News. “I think there was a fear of the Democrat agenda – some of their anti-police agenda scared people a little bit. That’s why I think all around the country we’re getting results that make me feel very good…Their divisiveness, saying America is a horrible, racist nation – I was glad that negative campaigning didn’t work.”
He’s hoping to help find ways to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and other health concerns for people across the country.
“I’ve been an advocate for Vitamin D. One of the things we’re going to try to do is make sure the government encourages more Vitamin D testing,” Grothman said. “Working on a bill to work on some insulin substitutes and bio-similars. That’s something we’d like to have a chance at getting done.”
Grothman added that having Donald Trump in the White House would make it easier to have an actual impact.
Grothman defeated challenger Jessica King for the 6th Congressional District, which covers a wide section of east-central Wisconsin. It includes Manitowoc and Sheboygan, goes down to the northern suburbs of Milwaukee; the southern Fox Valley including Neenah, Oshkosh and Fond du Lac; and covers the area to Plainfield and Wisconsin Dells to the west.
Grothman was first elected to the seat in 2014 after serving in the state assembly from 1993-2004 and the state Senate from 2005-2014.
