Andres Garcia-Saenz (BCSO)
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The defense attorney for a man accused in a Green Bay murder says she is still waiting for evidence to be turned over, so no trial date has been set yet.
Andres-Garcia-Saenz is charged with first-degree intentional homicide for allegedly stabbing Dennis Campbell 170 times during an incident March 17 at a Traeger Street home.
Defense attorney Trisha Fritz said Monday there are still items and crime scene photos she is waiting for so she can review them.
Deputy District Attorney Dana Johnson said the medical examiner is still working on the autopsy report, which has no estimated completion date, but other items should all be available.
A status conference will be held Dec. 4.
According to the criminal complaint, after a March 17 welfare check police found Campbell’s body and the Traeger Street home appeared to have been ransacked.
The investigation led them to Garcia-Saenz. At his residence, they found Campbell’s clothing, credit cards, ID, shoes, and other items. He repeatedly denied any involvement in the murder, and offered varying explanations for his time at Campbell’s home and why he had Campbell’s possessions.
DNA test results show samples likely from both Garcia-Saenz and Campbell on the handle of a bloody hammer found at the scene.
At his first court appearance, Garcia-Saenz denied any role in the murder.
