TOWN OF LENA, WI (WTAQ) — Oconto County Sheriff’s Officials are looking for a man they say impersonated a first responder over the weekend.
Lt. Brad Paitl says the man drove an old model pickup truck with a strap on the bumper, a missing grill, and an amber strobe light while trying to pull over drivers in the area of County Road J at Molitor Rd. near Lena on Friday.
“The driver of the vehicle was giving people that would stop a story about how there was a house fire ahead, and that he was to detour the traffic,” Lt. Paitl told WTAQ. “It was later found out that we did not have any [fire] activity in that area.”
Deputies say they have a “pretty good idea” of who it is and are working to contact the suspect.
Anyone with any additional information should contact the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office at (920) 834-6900, option 1 for Dispatch, and speak with the on duty shift supervisor in reference to Incident #: 20-012304 to provide additional information.
If you feel that you are being followed by a vehicle/person and that your safety is in danger, please call 911 right away, or as soon as you are safely able to do so, and provide dispatch with your location, direction of travel, and suspect information to have a deputy sent to assist.
