MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One person was killed Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Marinette County.
According to the Marinette County Sheriff deputies responded to a report of a three-vehicle crash around 1:15 p.m. at County Road B and Hartwig Road in the Town of Grover involving a motorcycle and two pickup trucks.
Investigators say the operator of the motorcycle was westbound on County Road B and was slowing down to turn onto Hartwig Road when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by a 20-year-old Peshtigo man.
The impact sent the motorcycle and the operator skidding into the path of an eastbound pick up truck driven by an 84-year-old Marinette man.
The eastbound truck ran over the motorcycle operator.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner.
The deceased has been identified as 73-year-old Verlon Voelker from the Town of Grover.
The crash remains under investigation.
