STURGEON BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Susan Soukup allegedly killed her ex-girlfriend after she didn’t want to talk with her after returning home from work, according to the criminal complaint filed Friday.
Soukup, 52, makes an initial appearance Monday on the one count of first-degree intentional homicide for the incident Tuesday at a Florida Street residence. The victim’s name has not been released, and is not listed in the criminal complaint.
According to the criminal complaint, Soukup went to sleep at about 9 p.m. Tuesday. Her roommate — who Soukup described as having “an on-again/off-again dating relationship” with — returned home from work about 9:30 p.m. When the victim did not want to talk, Soukup got angry.
“Soukup stated that VICTIM put on her CPAP machine and went to sleep. Soukup stated that she was still upset and stayed awake in the dark room. Soukup stated that she started having thoughts about killing VICTIM. Soukup stated that she grabbed her dagger and stayed in bed for approximately 10-30 minutes thinking about killing VICTIM. Soukup stated that something in her head told her to “do it, do it.” Soukup stated that she used the glow from her cell phone to illuminate VICTIM so she could find VICTIM’s neck. Soukup stated that she grabbed the hose from the CPAP machine that was attached to the mask on VICTIM’s face, moved it out of the way, and then stabbed VICTIM on the left side of her neck,” the complaint states.
Soukup called police, and when officers arrived she told them “I stabbed her,” the complaint states.
Soukup had a court appearance Tuesday, where a $1 million cash bond was set.
