(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Green Bay women’s soccer team secured its 10th shutout of the season, drawing Cleveland State 0-0 on the road Thursday. Green Bay is now 11-1-4 this year and sits second in the Horizon League standings at 20 points.
The Phoenix has just two games remaining in the regular season. GB will travel to Purdue Fort Wayne Sunday and Milwaukee on Saturday, Oct. 31.
“I thought from a performance standpoint we played very well,” said head coach Matt Kagan. “We had a lot of looks on goal and their goalkeeper made two special saves. Unfortunately we didn’t have the quality we needed in front of goal tonight and a draw is a fair result.”
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Phoenix dominated the game throughout, outshooting the Vikings 24-2, including 10 shots on goal to the Vikings’ zero. Despite those looks, Green Bay was unable to convert and settled for the draw.
Offensively, the team was led by Bella Brozek and Laney Stark, who took six shots each. Grace Downey attempted three shots, all on goal.
GAME NOTES
- Both teams received one yellow card.
- Vikings keeper Haleigh Lewis recorded 10 saves.
UP NEXT
Green Bay will look to lock up the number two seed in the Horizon League on Sunday when they travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana to take on Purdue Fort Wayne at Noon CT. If the Phoenix were to secure the No. 2 seed, they would host a Horizon League semifinal game on November 11
