(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) ROCKFORD, Ill. – St. Norbert College thumped Rockford University with a 12-1 victory, setting a new program record in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Sam Greeley Field.
The Green Knights (4-6-1, 3-2 NACC) set a new program record with 10 goals in a half while also equaling a previous record of 12 goals in a single game. Senior Shelby Busch (pictured) scored a hat trick in the second half.
The Regents did score the first goal of the match at 13:00 from Miley McCarty before Addie Schneider equalized on a free kick at 37:32. The Green Knights took the lead shortly after at 42:13 from Busch to lead 2-1 at halftime.
Mya Gonzalez scored her third goal of the season to put St. Norbert up 3-1 at 48:06 before goals from Busch and Adrian quickly afterwards had the Green Knights rolling. Trinity Popelka made it 6-1 at 55:33.
Emma Daharsh scored on a goal from 25 yards out on a one-touch, while Jeana Wuchter scored her first career goal at 71:22. Busch completed her hat trick to make it 9-1, while late goals from Colleen Callaghan, Adrian and Lexi Fredenhagen set the new record for the Green Knights.
Busch finished with seven points, while Adrian and Schneider had five.
The Green Knights outshot Rockford 48-2. Jazmin Morales made one save in the first half.

DE PERE – St. Norbert College salvaged a 1-1 draw against Rockford University with a late goal in the second half in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights (4-3-4, 2-1-2 NACC) found themselves trailing 1-0 following an early goal from Rockford’s Omar Gutierrez at 3:43. St. Norbert put pressure on Rockford’s Wesley Pritzlaff who made six stops before going into halftime up by one goal.
St. Norbert finally broke through following another barrage on goal in the second half, with Ben Swicionis (pictured) slotting home his first goal of the season at 78:43. Everett Saeger and Hayden Dunn linked on the assist for Swicionis.
The Green Knights outshot Rockford 21-1. Pritzlaff turned away 13 shots from the St. Norbert attack.
