(UW ATHLETICS) COLLEGE PARK, MD – No. 14 Wisconsin women’s soccer (7-1-2, 3-0-1 Big Ten) extended its unbeaten streak to nine matches with a 1-0 victory over Maryland (3-6-1, 0-4-0 Big Ten) on Thursday night at Ludwig Field.
How it happened
Wisconsin controlled the attacking chances early, registering four of the first six shots of the match. In the 25th minute, Gordon broke through for the Badgers, finding the top center of the net with her right foot to give Wisconsin a 1-0 lead.
The Badgers continued to pressure Maryland following the goal. Freshmen KK Panella and Jane Rogers each put shots on frame, while Gordon added another attempt on goal in the 36th minute. Maryland created a late first-half chance, but Stover denied Ellie Egeland to send Wisconsin into the break with the 1-0 advantage.
Wisconsin entered the second half looking to add to its lead. Izy Traub put a shot on goal in the 57th minute, but Maryland goalkeeper Faith Luckey made the save.
The Terps looked for an equalizer throughout the second half, but the Badger defense held strong. Stover made a save on Ella Petry in the 49th minute and Wisconsin limited Maryland to four second-half shots.
Wisconsin closed out the final minutes to secure the 1-0 victory and its fourth-straight clean sheet. Stover finished with two saves, while Gordon led the Badgers with three shots and two shots on goal.

The Badgers continue their East Coast road trip on Sunday, Sept. 27, traveling to Piscataway, New Jersey, to face Rutgers. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
