(LEARFIELD) – There’s a pretty good chance the final roster position for the Badgers will be filled by a player from overseas.
Five of the 14 players on the UW roster now are from Australia or New Zealand.
Wisconsin appears to need at least one more big man, but Sports Illustrated suggests a reunion could be coming.
Depending on the court fight over eligibility, it is possible that sharp-shooting Braeden Carrington might return.
The decision is likely coming in the next month.
Villanova added to men’s non-conference slate: The Wisconsin men’s basketball program announced on Wednesday that it will take on Villanova in the Philly Hoops Showdown at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
The Badgers will meet the Wildcats on Saturday, Dec. 12, at Xfinity Mobile Arena, the home of the Philadelphia 76ers.
UW trails the series between the two teams, 2-1, with UW’s victory coming in the Round of 32 at the 2017 NCAA Tournament when the Badgers took down No. 1 Villanova, 65-62, in Buffalo, N.Y. The most recent meeting came in 2025 as the Badgers fell to Villanova in overtime, 76-66, at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
Tip time and television info for this year’s game will be announced at a later date. Intersport, a Chicago-based sports marketing and events agency, will manage all aspects of the event.
