(LEARFIELD) – An eligibility decision by the NCAA means several important Badgers players can hang around Madison another year. An age-based eligibility model was approved Tuesday.
It means athletes can play five seasons in five years if they choose.
The clock starts with their full-time enrollment in college or the academic year following their 19th birthday.
They can still choose to follow the old rules if they wish.
The change affects players like Nolan Winter in basketball, who now has two years of eligibility remaining.
