(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers scored 8 runs in the second inning and went on to defeat the Atlanta Braves 9-4 in the finale of their 3-game series in Atlanta.
Sal Frelick put the Brewers on the board in the inning with a 2-run double. David Hamilton and Jackson Chourio followed with run-scoring singles. Brice Turang then singled home a run followed by a 3-run home run by William Contreras.
All 8 run scored off of Braves starting pitcher Bryce Elder.
Brewers starting pitcher Robert Gasser got his first win of the season, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 7.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Gasser pitched well.
Chad Patrick pitched the last 3 innings. allowed 2 runs and earned the save.
Murphy was asked if the win on Sunday helped erase the losses to the Braves on Friday and Saturday.
The Brewers are in Cincinnati Monday night to face the Reds.
The Brewers have not named a starter although it has been speculated that Brandon Woodruff will get the call.
The Reds will go with Brady Singer who is 3-6 with a 5.32 ERA.
