PC: Two Rivers Utilities
TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Service has been fully restored for most Two Rivers residents after strong thunderstorms knocked out power Sunday.
At its peak, more than 3,500 electric utility accounts were without power, impacting nearly half of the community.
Two Rivers Utilities has been providing frequent Facebook updates regarding power restoration.
The storms caused severe damage across several city parks and cemetery properties, with extensive tree loss, debris fields and structural impacts. Multiple streets became impassable, as downed trees and power lines blocked roadways and created dangerous conditions for both residents and emergency crews.
The National Weather Service surveyed damage Monday and concluded it was not a tornado, but rather, straight-line winds.
Due to power outages, LB Clarke Middle School was closed Monday. Two Rivers High School, Koenig and Magee had classes.
Kaukauna, Menasha, Waupun and New London Utilities all sent crews to help with power restoration efforts.
