OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Rodney Franklin went on trial in Oshkosh Monday, accused of killing Keith Rieskamp.
Franklin, 53, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and theft from a corpse. Rieskamp was found dead behind a residence in the 200 block of E. Doty Avenue on Nov. 24.
A five-day trial is scheduled.
Officials say they charged Franklin after evidence was examined by the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory.
“There’s been testimony that this person was deceased after receiving blunt force trauma from an unknown subject. In this area, they located a brick which was consistent with the injuries which were sustained by the deceased person, and there was DNA contributed by two people. That was the defendant and the deceased,” said Judge Scott Woldt at a previous hearing.
Witnesses told police Rieskamp resided with Franklin at the E. Doty Avenue home for a period of time, but then moved into a shed on the property. Witnesses also said two males were in a dispute the night of the murder.
When police executed search warrants, property of Rieskamp was found in Franklin’s home.
