(UW ATHLETICS) MADISON – Sophomore Hannah Conger played hero in game two of Wisconsin softball’s doubleheader versus St. Thomas on Tuesday, shooting a two-RBI single to the opposite field to secure a walk-off 4-3 victory at Goodman Diamond.
After falling in game one, 3-0, the Badgers (25-17, 9-9 B1G) responded with their third walk-off at Goodman Diamond this season—plating three runs in the final frame to storm back against the Tommies (28-14, 8-4 Summit).
GAME ONE
St. Thomas’ Ella Cook was the headliner throughout the course of game one, silencing Wisconsin on the offensive end to hand the Badgers’ their first shutout in non-conference play, earning a 3-0 win.
UW threatened on multiple occasions, but the Tommies provided an answer defensively, only committing one error.
St. Thomas got the scoring started with the help of a couple of defensive miscues turned in by the Badgers, taking a 2-0 lead into the fourth inning.
Tommies’ Cassidy Carby launched a home run to deep left field in the seventh, extending the advantage to 3-0.
Redshirt freshman Jaclyn Showalter led off the final frame with a double, recording all three hits for Wisconsin in game one. Unfortunately for UW, the rally was stalled, as Cook notched three consecutive outs to secure the 3-0 win for St. Thomas.
Batting Cleanup:
- Game one marked the second time Wisconsin fell to St. Thomas in program history.
- The Badgers have now been shutout four times, suffering their first scoreless showing in non-conference play in 2026.
- Jaclyn Showalter finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, turning in her first three-hit performance in her collegiate career.
GAME TWO
The Badgers got off to a slow start on the offensive end in game two before plating three runs in the seventh, falling behind early once again.
St. Thomas got on the board with the help of a wild pitch in the third inning, following it up with back-to-back solo home runs in the fourth frame to make it 3-0.
Sophomore Kendra Lewis tallied the Badgers’ first RBI of the day in the fourth, driving in senior Emily Bojan, who reached on a leadoff double.
Left-hander Jordan Felci stifled St. Thomas on the offensive end, tossing three scoreless innings to keep the Badgers in it late.
With three outs to go, Lewis continued to enjoy a strong day at the plate—launching her third home run of the season to bring Wisconsin within one. Sophomore Kaylie Whidden, after bursting on the scene last weekend versus Michigan, stayed hot by barreling a double off of the left field wall to put the tying run in scoring position.
After a walk from junior Danielle Lucey, junior Alivia Bark followed it up with a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third.
St. Thomas secured the second out of the inning, setting up Conger. The Gurnee, Ill. native muscled a line drive to the outfield, as Lucey slid into home plate and notched UW’s third walk-off of the season at Goodman Diamond.
Batting Cleanup:
- The Badgers improved their record to 5-2 over St. Thomas all-time.
- UW completed the 2026 non-conference slate with a record of 16-8.
- Wisconsin walked off its opponent for the third time in 12 games this season at Goodman Diamond, improving their home record to 7-5.
- Head coach Yvette Healy earned her 599th career win, as she is just one away from 600 entering this weekend at Minnesota.
- Hannah Conger earned the walk-off base hit in a 1-for-3 showing, tallying multiple RBI for the seventh time this season.
- Kendra Lewis blasted her third HR of the year in a 1-for-3 effort, finishing with a pair of RBI. The lefty reached base three times in the doubleheader against St. Thomas, walking twice in game one.
- Jordan Felci recorded her second win of the season, twirling three scoreless innings while striking out one batter.
- Kaylie Whidden and Emily Bojan each earned a double in the latter half of Tuesday’s doubleheader.
Up Next: The Badgers will hit the road for the final time in the regular season, traveling to Minnesota to take on the Golden Gophers in a three-game series, beginning on Friday, April 24. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT, as the game will be streamed on B1G+.
