(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) VERONA – St. Norbert College fell twice to Edgewood University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Stampfl Field.
The Green Knights (13-11, 3-7 NACC) were edged 4-2 in the first game before being shutout 10-0 in the nightcap.
Edgewood took the lead in the fourth inning on a three-run home run. A Matt Schuch single in the fifth scored Tim Nobrega to make it 3-1 before the Eagles scored one run in the fifth with the bases loaded on a hit by pitch. Jake Lucas’s RBI double in the sixth made it 4-2, but the Green Knights registered just two more hits in the game to suffer a defeat in the first game of the afternoon.
Lucas and Will DeBruin had the two extra base hits for St. Norbert, both of whom finished the day with two hits.
Dylan Heier (pictured) took the loss, pitching 4.2 innings with six strikeouts and five walks against four runs on four hits.
In the nightcap, the Eagles took a 7-0 lead in the first inning and added two more in the third without a Green Knights response. Edgewood added one more run in the fifth to make it a 10-0 ballgame.
Tyler Dean, Zach Bostrand, Carson Krumrei, Will Van Laanen, Nobrega and Lucas all had one hit.
Connor Christensen took the loss, allowing six runs on five hits in the first inning.
