(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) QUEENS, NY – The Marquette University men’s lacrosse team (6–4, 2–0 BIG EAST) outlasted St. John’s (2–9, 0–2 BIG EAST) in a double-overtime thriller, securing an 11–10 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Carsen Brandt led the way for the Golden Eagles with seven points on two goals and five assists. Brandt also became the eighth player in program history to reach the 100-career point milestone. Andrew Bowman made his first career start at attack and finished with four points, while Lucas Lawas anchored the defense with 14 saves.
St. John’s came out strong, scoring three first-quarter goals to take an early lead. Marquette responded with two goals of its own in the opening frame and continued to chip away, evening the contest at 4–4 by halftime.
The Golden Eagles found their rhythm in the third quarter, scoring three times to briefly take control of the game. Goals from Beau Westphal, Jake Bair, and Ethan Salvia helped Marquette build momentum and carry a narrow lead into the final period.
