MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Manitowoc Police are investigating a disturbance call that prompted the Manitowoc County SWAT Team to be called out on Sunday.
Police responded to the call in the 5100-block of Expo Drive. After arriving police learned that a male suspect had physically assaulted a female victim, and in the course of the assault held a rifle near the suspect’s head and fired a round.
Manitowoc County SWAT team was called after discovering the suspect was believed to still be in the residence and in possession of multiple firearms.
Police say SWAT officers made a tactical entry into the home where a 42-year-old male resident was taken into custody and transported to the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office jail.
The suspect is being held on several pending charges, including battery, reckless endangering safety, disorderly conduct and strangulation, according to Manitowoc Police Lieutenant Mark Schroeder.
