(LEARFIELD) – Second-year pitcher Jacob Misiorowski gets the Opening Day start for the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday afternoon at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Manager Pat Murphy and his team will welcome the Chicago White Sox to American Family Field.
Milwaukee won a franchise-record 97 games last season.
Brewers outfielder/designated hitter Christian Yelich talked about people predicting gloom and doom for the Brewers again this season.
Why does he think people keep selling the Brewers short after winning the last three division titles?
Yelich talked about how there is a right way of doing things for a young team like the Brewers.
Yelich said that in looking at the team, the young pitching is a wild card.
What’s been the key to success? They lose players that they can’t afford to keep and continue to win.
Misiorowski threw five hitless innings against the St. Louis Cardinals in his first major league start last June.
Only two pitchers have been younger when they started an Opening Day game
The White Sox will counter with Shane Smith who was 7-8 with a 3.81 ERA with the White Sox in 2025.
Smith was originally signed by the Milwaukee Brewers as an undrafted free agent in 2021 but was out that season and a good portion of 2022 due to Tommy John surgery. The White Sox acquired the former Timber Rattlers pitcher in 2024.
The Brewers season opener can be heard beginning at 12:35 this afternoon on 97.5 WTAQ.
