(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) BATAVIA, Ohio –The Green Bay Phoenix women’s golf team kicked off the spring season at the NKU Julie Invitational at Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio. The Phoenix finished 2nd out of 12 teams, 23 shots behind Oakland.
“I am super proud of how the ladies came out of the gate this week,” said head coach Lee Reinke. “They showed a lot of guts on Monday by battling through some tough weather, and by finishing the way they did despite being one of the only teams whose first tournament of the spring was this week.”
Green Bay didn’t have anyone finish in the top five but rather kept its scores low thanks to three top-15 finishers. Ellie Frisch led the way, finishing in seventh with a +17 across the event’s three rounds. Riley Pechinski finished 12th with a +19, and Avary Johnson finished 14th with a +20. Keanna Keen rounded out the scoring for the Phoenix, shooting +30 for 41st.
Frisch had the best round of any GB golfer, shooting a +4, 75, in round two on Monday.
Green Bay will be back in action in just over a week when they travel to Silvis, Ill., for the Western Illinois Intercollegiate at TPC Deere Run.
