(WTAQ-WLUK) — Kimberly-Clark shareholders have voted to approve the purchase of Tylenol maker Kenvue.
The approval marks a major step toward finalizing the $48.7 billion deal.
Kimberly-Clark says 96% of shares present at its special meeting voted to approve the acquisition. At Kenvue’s special meeting, the sale received 99% approval.
The deal now needs regulatory approval. It is expected to close in the second half of this year.
In addition to Tylenol, Kenvue’s brands include Band-Aid, Aveeno, Listerine and Neutrogena.
Kimberly-Clark was founded in Neenah and retains significant operations in the Fox Valley. It is currently headquartered in Dallas. Kimberly-Clark’s brands include Huggies, Kleenex and Cottonelle.
