PULASKI, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – If a Pulaski company cannot find a buyer by March, more than 300 employees will be temporarily out of work.
Marquis Yachts notified the state Department of Workforce Development this week.
Officials say the company has been actively engaged with a couple of potential buyers and other stakeholders to negotiate a sale of the company with the hope of continuing operations. If a sale cannot be finalized by March 1, the facility at 790 Markham Dr., will close. If the company can finalize a sale by Feb. 29, there will be no shutdown.
Typically, companies are required to give the state 60 days’ notice in case of mass layoffs. In its letter to the state, Marquis said its late notice was a result of “unforeseen business circumstances, including the sudden decision by the previously anticipated buyer to withdraw from the purchase, and other unforeseeable business circumstances that were beyond the Company’s control including the Company’s inability to secure short-term financing to continue operations until the sale of the business is complete.”
