OCONTO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — No one was injured when an Oconto home caught fire early Tuesday morning.
A few minutes after midnight, the Oconto Fire & Rescue Department responded to the 2900 block of N. River Road for a house fire. The report said flames were visible in the basement.
When crews arrived on scene, they found a two-story wood-framed residential structure with smoke showing from the A-side gable vent and the D-side entry door. An interior attack was initiated in the basement. Because the fire had extended into the walls of the house, firefighters opened walls and ceilings and attacked the fire from the basement up to the roof.
All occupants were out of the house by the time crews arrived. No residents or firefighters were injured.
The fire is still under investigation.
