KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ) — Saturday’s 9th annual Bag for Bravery tournament in Kaukauna was a big success for local veterans.
96 teams and nearly 200 people took part in the charity bags tournament at JJ Maloney’s in Kaukauna. Mark Bonovetz is with Desert Veterans of Wisconsin, the group that benefited from the event.
“The impact has been huge,” Bonovetz said Saturday. “I can tell you that in the nine years…we’ve helped build houses, we’ve provided rent, we’ve bought cars, we’ve fed families.”
The tournament raised just over $6,300. That will go towards the group’s efforts in providing returning veterans with help in areas where other institutions, such as the VA, don’t.
The annual event is put on in partnership with Midwest Communications.
