GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – As concern over the spread of COVID 19 coronavirus grows, Brown County has activated its Emergency Operations Center.
It’s used as a tool to help coordinate local & regional efforts, and request additional resources if needed.
One of the main jobs of the E-O-C is separate virus fact…. from virus fiction.
“We have somebody who’s tasked with following up to find out is there a change?”
Erik Pritzl is Brown County’s Health & Human Services Director. He says the accurate information delivery system is through things like social media and mainstream media. It’s a plan that’s being tweaked, but the template is is in place.
“We’re basically at this level of activation in some ways for a little while now.”
The biggest concern now is getting more supplies to healthcare providers.
“This is like the personal protective equipment, medical supplies, things like that. Which we know are in short supply.”
On the the plus side, Pritzl believes the public is engaged and staking steps to stop the spread of COVID 19.
“I know that there’s an effort to really on a personal level, to take that responsibility, and do what you need to do.”
Pritzl says the public’s patience and tolerance level for this level of response to coronavirus is a bit better because most of us have access to social media to stay connected and not so alone.
