GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Many Green Bay City Council members have said they want answers about the election two weeks ago and they are expected to receive some tonight.
On the city council agenda is a presentation about the election.
When the council last met 12 days ago, Mayor Eric Genrich promised a full debriefing from himself and City Clerk Kris Teske.
Council members want to know more about the decision to consolidate Green Bay’s 31 polling locations to 2, at Green Bay East and West High School. Many voters waited hours in line to vote, for some the wait was more than four hours.
Genrich has said a shortage of poll workers forced that move.
However, the city also passed on National Guard members helping out at the polls. City council members have said community volunteers were also turned away.
Genrich has already said there wasn’t time to adequately train new poll workers.
The process for sending out absentee ballots has also been questioned.
Some council members said they want the Wisconsin Elections Commission to investigate the decisions that were made. However, over the weekend the commission voted down that idea.
The virtual city council meeting starts at 6 p.m.
