GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — High winds and rain over the past few days have caused some issues for people in certain parts of Green Bay.
East Shore Drive was shut down from North Irwin Street to Nicolet Drive as water went over the street and filled yards on Wednesday.
“Not again. That last storm in November trashed our yard, we had just cleaned it up, and now it’s flooded again,” says Kathy Kuzniewski, who lives in that area.
But for some of her neighbors – it wasn’t the water they were worried about.
“I’m losing some shingles on my roof. On the corner where the wind is hitting, it’s shearing them off. It’s just a part of living here,” says Brian Krueger.
Green Bay Police and Green Bay Metro Fire were evacuating residents from the area after issuing flooding alert around noon.
“The city of Green Bay has experienced flash flooding, which means mass amounts of water in a given area in a short period of time,” says Police Commander Kevin Warych, “There are main thoroughfares that are shut down due to standing water in the roadway. There are basically too many to list. So as people travel, they need to make sure to take any alternative routes. Do not drive through water.”
Warych anticipates the water will begin to recede as winds die down.
