GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – It’s been over four weeks since the end of Governor Tony Evers’ ‘Safer at Home’ Order, and so far we haven’t seen a large increase in COVID-19 cases.
The COVID-19 percentage positive rate in Wisconsin has stayed below 5% for weeks now, and Prevea CEO Dr. Ashok Rai says that’s good news,
“So, if you look at the last 14 days it’s been a nice negative decline, and one we would say is statistically significant,” Rai told WTAQ’s ‘The Morning News with Matt and Earl’ on Monday. “So things are heading in the right direction.
Rai also cautions against using a single number to understand COVID-19.
“A lot of people want to use a number and make a point, that that happens any part of medicine or politics or whatever you want to call it, so you have to really be careful,” he said.
Hospitalization rate, Rai says, is an important number to focus on, as well as the number of tests done per day.
Last Wednesday, over 16,000 Wisconsinites had their tests come back. Over 20,000 people in Wisconsin have been diagnosed with the virus, but the positive rate has sat below 5% for weeks.
