(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College women’s hockey played its first game in the new Donald and Patricia Schneider Family Arena but came up shy in a 1-0 non-conference loss to UW-Eau Claire.
Both teams battled in a tightly contested game, with neither team finding the net in the first 34 minutes. The 14th-ranked Blugolds then found the pay window when Jana Lesch’s shot from the goal line found the cage at the 14:37 mark of the second period.
St. Norbert would get a power play that bridged the second and third periods, but did not get a shot. The Green Knights would get a full two minutes of extra attacker time at the end of the game but could not get the equalizer.
Eau Claire outshot St. Norbert 25-17, including 15-8 in the third period. Tanith Plachetka made 24 saves in the tough loss in goal for St. Norbert, while Addison Moudry made 17 stops to get the shutout for Eau Claire.
