(WTAQ-WLUK) — With just over one week to go before the November election, Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany and Democratic Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley are reinforcing why they believe they’re the right candidate to lead Wisconsin.
“I’m going to work for you. I’m going to work to lower your costs. I’m going to make sure that we can expand healthcare, improve our schools and most importantly I’m going to bring people together to do it,” said Crowley.
“Affordability, accountability, common sense. That’s what we’re going to deliver for the people of the state of Wisconsin,” said Tiffany.
Both Tiffany and Crowley focusing the final push on getting people to the polls and winning over undecided voters.
According to the Wisconsin Elections Commission, the 2024 November election had a turnout of 73%. However, the 2022 election with the governor’s race on the ticket, had a turnout of just 57%.
“We have an eight-point detailed plan of how we’re going to make Wisconsin more affordable. We’re very clear on the leadership that’s needed for Wisconsin at this point and I think at the end of the day, our message is going to resonate with the voters,” said Tiffany.
“When you think about our gas, think about groceries, you think about utility bills compared to last year, everything is that much more expensive. That’s why I’m running to be your governor,” said Crowley.
Both candidates have several stops on their bus tour around the state each day the rest of this week.
“Folks are looking for something different. They want to know who actually has the executive leadership, who is poised to become the next governor, to build the necessary relationships across the political spectrum to make sure that everybody can get ahead,” said Crowley.
“We have a great opportunity here. Wisconsin’s going to decide which direction it’s going to go. The ‘woke and broke’, like Minnesota and Illinois, or are we going to be one of the shining stars here in America? I believe we can be the best in the Midwest,” said Tiffany.
The governor’s seat has been held by Democrat Tony Evers since 2018. The previous eight years, it was held by Republican Scott Walker.
The latest Marquette Law School poll, that came out at the end of September, had Crowley ahead of Tiffany among likely voters by three percentage points. One final poll before the election will be released on Wednesday.
