(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) MILWAUKEE – Freshman forward Dominic Firs scored three goals in a span of 32 minutes and seven different Golden Eagles recorded a point as Marquette rolled to a 7-2 victory over Carroll on Tuesday evening at Valley Fields. The Golden Eagles improved to 7-4-1 on the season and snapped a two-match skid by producing their highest scoring output of the year. Marquette finished with 33 shots, including 16 on target, while holding Carroll to just four total attempts.
Marquette struck early as Mateo Stoka opened the scoring in the 10th minute, knifing through the defense and ripping a shot from just outside the top of the box to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 advantage.
After controlling play for much of the opening half, Marquette doubled its lead in the 38th minute when Dominic Firs came off the bench and scored his first goal of the evening. The Golden Eagles carried a 2-0 lead into halftime after outshooting Carroll 19-0 in the opening 45 minutes.
Ryan Amond converted a penalty kick in the 51st minute for his first goal of the season before Rio Pehar scored two minutes later off assists from Hudson Torrez and Liam Cahill to push the lead to 4-0.
Marquette made it 5-0 in the 62nd minute when Chidube Nwankwo scored his first collegiate goal off a setup from Enkido Hackaa and Drew Mullins.
Firs then took over just before the 70-minute mark. Twice within two-and-a-half minutes, the freshman punched in a pair of rebounds, stretching the Golden Eagle advantage to 7-0.
Carroll found the scoresheet twice in the final eight minutes as Edin Hajric scored in the 83rd minute and converted a penalty kick in the 86th minute to account for the 7-2 final.

- Dominic Firs recorded his first career hat trick. It is the second Marquette hat trick of 2026, joining Tomiwa Adewumi‘s three-goal performance against Southern Indiana.
- Firs recorded his three goals on three shots on goal.
- Marquette scored seven goals, its most all-time at Valley Fields, and most since scoring seven on Sept. 4,1993 at Valparaiso.
- Marquette’s 20 points surpassed the 18 that were recorded that day against Valparaiso.
- Marquette had six assists, matching its most all-time at Valley Fields (Sept. 22, 2012 – DePaul).
- Chidube Nwankwo netted his first collegiate goal and added an assist.
- Rio Pehar posted a goal and an assist for three points.
- Ryan Amond scored his first goal of the season.
- Renan Salum started the match, making way for Viktor Engh in the opening moments. Salum was ruled out for the season following an injury during the spring, but made the only start of his career on Senior Night on Tuesday.
- Marquette outshot Carroll 33-4 and held a 16-2 edge in shots on goal.
