Sep 29 (Field Level Media) – The Atlanta Braves adjusted their roster in advance of their National League wild-card series against Philadelphia, selecting the contracts of infielders Rowdy Tellez and Luke Williams on Tuesday.
The Braves opened one spot on the 40-man roster when right-hander Ricky Vanasco was designated for assignment. In addition, right-hander Elieser Hernandez no longer is listed on the 40-man roster, while infielder Kyle Farmer was not listed on the active roster.
The Braves were set to open their best-of-three series at home against the Phillies on Tuesday.
Tellez, 31, played in just seven games for the Braves this season, hitting a home run among his two hits with four RBIs. He batted .267 with 16 home runs and 67 RBIs in 102 games at Triple-A Gwinnett.
Tellez has five games of postseason experience, including four with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2021 when he homered twice against the Braves in the NL Division Series.
Williams, 30, played in just two games for the Braves this season and was a .218 hitter with nine home runs, 31 RBIs and 37 stolen bases in 103 games at Gwinnett. In parts of six major league seasons, with five different clubs, he has never appeared in a postseason game.
Vanasco, 27, never played in a major league game for the Braves. He has a 12.19 ERA in nine career relief appearances for the Los Angeles Dodgers (2024) and Detroit Tigers (2024, 2026).
