(LEARFIELD) – The Wisconsin Badgers football team faces Penn State in Happy Valley this Saturday in the Big Ten opener for both teams.
Badgers coach Luke Fickell said that they have to handle their emotions better than the opener vs. Notre Dame.
As far as quarterback Colton Joseph is concerned, Fickell said that they’re still trying to find a balance with Joseph as a runner.
Fickell said that playing in Happy Valley can be a fun environment but they have to handle it too.
The Badgers coach talked about how linebacker Mason Posa is dealing with turf toe and its impact.
Fickell also discussed the challenge of facing an experienced quarterack like Rocco Becht.
Fickell said that the focus is on Penn State, not the entire difficult five-game stretch.
Back to Joseph, Fickell said that Joseph became more confident with his arm and now he needs to do the same with his legs.
Fickell said that he’s hopeful Abu Sama will be available after sitting out last week.
Fickell said that the challenge of playing in Happy Valley will be huge.
He said that they understand this is the start of Big Ten play and they environment they’re going into.
The Badgers and Penn State kick off at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
